Now Available! Complete Pyzique® Barbeque & Fire Pit Kit
By Charles H. Gamarekian, Jr.
Building our popular Pyzique Barbeque just became easier than ever! The
finished, 16” high, circular pit — made of Cambridge Pyzique
Wall Stones set four courses (layers) high — will have an inside
diameter of 32” and an outside diameter of 50”. Additional
Cambridge Pyzique Wall Stones can be used to increase the height.
An all-in-one, circular fire pit and backyard
barbeque grill.
The metal ring insert has dual opposing cooking grates. Designed to cantilever
over the fire for cooking, they can be easily tipped back for fire building
or slid back for an unobstructed view and use of the fire.
Build it as a stand-alone pit or integrated into a segmental, double-sided
Cambridge Pyzique Wall design as shown. Each Barbeque & Fire Pit Kit
is on one convenient pallet complete with 60 pieces of Cambridge Pyzique
Wall Stones (56 units are needed to complete the installation); one 32”
diameter, 8” deep metal insert; one grill with double grates; and
installation instructions.
Each Kit is attractively priced in a full spectrum of colors and face
styles! Colors available in Pyzique Split Face are Sahara/Chestnut, Ruby/Onyx,
Onyx/Natural and Chestnut. In Pyzique Renaissance, choose from Sahara/Chestnut,
Ruby/Onyx, Onyx/Natural and Toffee/Onyx.

New For Cambridge Maytrx® Wall
Systems!
Cambridge Column Kit made with MaytRx
By Tony Farina,
Cambridge Customer Service Representative/
Special Projects Manager
With the Cambridge MaytRx 6 Column Kit, an attractive column can be built
simply and accurately with no cutting or splitting of wall stones required.
Let columns stand-alone adjacent to driveway entrances, steps and walkways
— even add a mailbox or lamp. Delineate corners and perimeters of
patios too. Add beauty and strength by integrating one column or more
into any wall design of double-sided MaytRx 6 (6 in. high), MaytRx 3 (3
in. high) Wall Stones, or a combination of randomly placed MaytRx 6 and
MaytRx 3.
Each Kit is conveniently pre-packaged with the required number (36) of
MaytRx 6 (6 inch) wall units to build one 22 in. x 22 in. column, 4 ft.
high above ground with one course buried. Just add a cap made from Maytrx
Cap Stones (not included) or another capping material such as cut natural
stone or a pre-cast unit.
The wall unit size is 6 in. high x 14 in. wide x 8 in. deep with a weight
per unit of approximately 52 lbs. There is one pre-packaged Column Kit
per pallet, which contains 36 pieces. Pallet weight is approximately 1,920
lbs.
To add an electrical fixture, a 6 in. cavity is left in the center of
the column for wiring. Smooth edge to smooth edge joining eliminates gap
joints on column corners. Choose from two face styles and a full spectrum
of colors. Colors available in Split Face are Sahara/Chestnut, Ruby/Onyx
and Onyx/Natural. In Renaissance Stone (distressed), select from Sahara/Chestnut,
Ruby/Onyx, Onyx/Natural and Toffee/Onyx.

MONTHLY CONTRACTOR ROUNDTABLE DINNERS
Come As You Are — Have A Free Dinner on Us
Starting January 2007, Cambridge Pavingstones is launching free
monthly Contractor Roundtable Dinners at six locations to bring
together contractors with the company’s pavingstone experts.
It is an opportunity to share ideas and solutions with other contractors
in an informal setting, discuss a wide variety of topics and ask
questions. Everything from installing pavers, walls and raised patios
to prospecting, estimating and bidding more profitably will be open
to discussion along with any other topics that contractors bring
up.
 |
Cambridge is providing
local distributors with flyers and posters to spread the word
about the free Contractor Roundtable Dinners. |
These are casual get-togethers. You can come as you are straight
from work, have dinner on us, and discuss what’s important
to your business. We encourage you to ask questions, so that others
can share their insights with you. If we can’t arrive at an
answer on the spot, your Cambridge Sales Specialist will research
the topic and provide what he learned at our next gathering or sooner
if needed.
The Contractor Roundtable Dinners are a great opportunity for us
to get to know each contractor’s needs better. Those attending
will also learn more about what makes Cambridge Pavingstones with
ArmorTec a superior product that is backed with a team that cares
about their success. We invite contractors to come alone or bring
fellow installers who can benefit from learning more about pavingstones,
retaining walls, color trends, what type of questions customers
are currently asking and the answers to them, as well as techniques
for closing the sale. We intend to have our Sales Specialist there
for two hours whether one person shows up or twenty-five come to
eat and chat about business. These dinners will go on for as many
months or years as contractors show an interest in them.

The
Cambridge “Thank You Card”
Offers Care And Maintenance Tips
By: Charlie Tesauro, Cambridge Sales Specialist
Among our network of Authorized Cambridge Distributors and professional
Cambridge contractors, “product knowledge” extends
beyond issues such as using the recommended base material, choosing
the right laying pattern and proper compaction. True with Cambridge
Pavingstones, the rich color is permanent. However, natural and
accidental occurrences —
for example efflorescence and stains — can compromise their
appearance and as a result change your homeowner-customer’s
decision that choosing an interlocking Cambridge Pavingstones
System was their best choice.
 |
Our Thank You
Card is distributed directly from Cambridge to homeowners
as information about installations is made available to
us. To receive your own supply of Thank You Cards for your
own delivery, contact your Authorized Cambridge Distributor
or Cambridge Sales Specialist. |
Thank You Card
To this end, Cambridge has introduced a simple Thank You Card
to homeowners who chose your company and Cambridge. In addition
to a message of appreciation, it also contains care and maintenance
tips in addition to widely held solutions to many unwanted yet
common incidences.
Content Highlights
The following solutions for the removal of certain
spills and stains are covered:
Citronella wax — Lay a white towel over
spilled wax and run a hot iron over it. Wax will lift off onto
the towel.
Asphalt and emulsified asphalt — Chill
with ice (if warm outside), scrape away and scrub the surface
with scouring or abrasive powder. Rinse thoroughly with water.
Candy, ketchup, mustard, and grease drippings from food
— For stubborn stains, apply liquid detergent full
strength and allow it to penetrate for 20 to 30 minutes. Scrub
and rinse with hot water. Removal is easier if these stains are
treated immediately.
Leaf, wood rot, or tobacco stains — Apply
household detergent and scrub with a stiff bristled brush. You
can also use Simple Green, a non-toxic cleaner-degreaser. These
products are available in most supermarkets. Note: leaf stains
that normally occur in autumn will dissipate over time.
Mortar — Let harden. Carefully remove spots
with a trowel, putty knife or chisel.
Oil or grease that has penetrated — Mop up any excess oil
with rags. Cover the area with oil absorbent kitty litter, talc,
fuller’s earth, or diatomaceous earth. Leave it on the stain
for a day and then sweep up.
Paint — Fresh paint should be mopped up
immediately with rags or paper towels by blotting. Do not wipe
as this will spread the paint and extend the removal time. If
the paint is latex and water based, soak and then scrub the area
with hot water, scouring powder and a stiff brush until no more
improvement is seen. Scrape away excess. Apply commercial paint
remover. Let sit for 20-30 minutes. Gently scrub. Blot up (do
not rub in).
Tire skid marks — Scrub black area with
water, detergent and scouring powder. In the case of small stained
areas, removal and replacement of marred pavingstones with new
pavers is also
an option.
Armor-All stains — (A silicone-based, tire
and wheel care product). To remove stains, mix 5 parts of hot
water, 1 part ammonia and 1 part lemon dish detergent. Using one
or more applications of the solution, scrub with a stiff bristle
brush.
Rust – Apply household dish detergent or Destainer from
a Cambridge Distributor.
Notes: 1. As with concrete pavers, staining
can also occur on poured and stamped concrete and clay brick.
2. Using bleach or general-purpose masonry muriatic acid to clean
pavers will result in discoloration.

These
topics are also addressed in the following manner:
Preventing Ant Mining & Reducing Potential For Weed Growth
In Joints — Sweep SAND LOCK PREMIX Organic Joint Sand
Stabilizer from Cambridge into joints between pavers. Follow manufacturer’s
instructions to activate the formula. An herbicide can also be used
to control weeds. Snow Removal & De-Icing
— Cambridge Pavingstones are not affected by de-icing
salts. A rubber-tipped plow is recommended when removing snow from
your pavement. Efflorescence —
The white haze that may appear on pavers and all Portland Cement-based
products is efflorescence and in no way does it affect the structural
integrity of your new pavingstones. It will wash or wear off over
time. Immediate cleaning and removal of efflorescence can be achieved
with Paver Prep, a solution available from Cambridge Distributors.
Follow instructions provided by the manufacturer. Sealing
Pavers — If a non-slip sheen is desired on your pavingstones,
you can seal them after 3 months of your installation with Paver Guard,
also available from Cambridge Distributors. Before sealing, clean
your pavingstones with Paver Prep. Cambridge
Blends — Cambridge Blends are combinations of select
Cambridge Solid Colors mixed in unequal amounts for an appearance
that’s truly unique to each pavingstone and as a result, every
installation. Since this is a random process, blends are different
on every Cambridge Pavingstone and one color may predominate the other. |

MaytRx® 6 Corner Unit
Reduces Installation Time While Adding Versatility
The need to make corners by splitting MaytRx 6 wall units is
a thing of the past thanks to our new pre-formed, Cambridge MaytRx
6 Corner Wall Stone.
The unit, which measures 6” x 10” is 6” high
(the same height as MaytRx 6 A, B, X and Y stones) and can be
used when installing
90-degree corners on both single and double-sided MaytRx Wall
Systems. The convenient and versatile “single stone design”
eliminates the necessity for left and right corner units. With
the Cambridge MaytRx 6 Corner, placing left or right corners is
as easy as “flipping over” the wall unit to achieve
the required length (See photo of same wall unit flipped).
MaytRx 6 Corners are available in Split Face and Renaissance Stone.
In Split Face, the color choice consists of Onyx/Natural, Ruby/Onyx
and Sahara/Chestnut. In our Renaissance Stone face, available
colors are Onyx/Natural, Ruby/Onyx, Sahara/Chestnut and Toffee/Onyx.
The units,
roughly 22.5 lbs. each, are packaged 32 to a layer/ 64 to a cube
for a total
pallet weight of approximately 1,500 lbs.

Cambridge Curbstone
Adds
Cost-Effective Curb Appeal
This contractor chose Cambridge Curbstone in lieu of traditional
Belgian Block edging on this driveway in Southern New Jersey for
good reasons. Cutting a concrete product is easier than stone
and less expensive. The results are as attractive as Belgian Block
— note the look of natural stone and familiar tapering as
the edging meets the sidewalk.
The contractor found other attributes of Cambridge Curbstone equally
appealing. Suitable for any vehicular, pedestrian and garden project,
the 3 1/2” thick, 9” high x 8” wide units offer
more consistent dimensions than Belgian Block. The results were
straighter lines and easier installation. Also, color choices
— Onyx/Natural, Sahara/Chestnut, Ruby/Onyx and Toffee/Onyx
— were similar to many shades offered on Cambridge Pavingstones.
As a result, a more cohesive color palette was achieved. The Cambridge
Products in monochromatic shades pictured in this installation
are Cambridge Curbstone in Onyx/Natural paired with 6 x 9 Cambridge
Pavingstones from The RoundTable Collection with ArmorTec®,
also in Onyx/Natural with a complementing Onyx border.
